Firing instructions

A Khom Loy may not be launched closer than 8 km from the nearest airport. Your Khom Loy should not be used if the ground is dry. Always check the wind direction before launching to ensure that the direction of travel is clear of possible obstacles such as trees and houses.

Prepare carefully before launching by reading through the instructions, safety regulations, and by getting to know your Khom Loy well and what can be expected from it.

Launch

1. Read the safety instructions carefully.

2. (This point only applies to models with a loose fuel kit) Carefully remove the lantern from its inner packaging, attach the fuel kit so that it rests on the wires at the bottom of the lantern. The wires should go through the hole and be folded over so that they point in the direction of travel of the lantern.

3. Carefully unfold the lantern to its full size and carefully ignite two opposite corners of the fuel pack. Do not let the flame ignite the paper in the lantern. Firing is made easier by having two people. When the lantern is filled with hot air and has its own lift (30 seconds-1 minute), release and let it rise towards the sky.

The carrying capacity is calculated on a dry lantern. In humid weather or if the lantern has been stored damp, flying ability may be impaired. Suggestions for good places for launching are beaches with the wind direction towards the sea. Football fields or similar open free spaces may also be suitable, but always taking the above into account.
